Naomi Bulger: messages in bottles

Have a wonderful weekend! Eat, drink and be merry, my friends.

1. Edible spray paint

After discovering this, I wish I was hosting a dinner party for Christmas. Because I would simultaneously impress and FREAK EVERYBODY OUT by painting all the food with this edible spray paint. Oh yes, I would.

2. Food of the rainbow

Can you imagine how berserk little kids would go for these rainbow coloured meals? Take a look at the rest of the Food of the Rainbow series by Henry Hargreaves. Personally, I'm all for the looking but don't know if I could stomach the eating. Well, maybe the spaghetti...

3. Sophie Koh's supermarket boogie

You know when you're half way through the grocery shopping, and a really good song comes on, and you have to fight the desire to bust a move? Me too. I love this quirky music video, as more and more shoppers cave to the temptation.

4. Paddle pop (culture)

There are all kinds of jokes I could make about this Marilyn Monroe paddle pop, but this is a PG blog so I'll simply say: how incredible is this ice-cream design? Take a look at some other creepy but cool pop culture paddle pops here. Or pop (sic) on over to Moscow for a taste test. So clever!

 5. Cherry season starts now

Cherry picking season officially starts in the Adelaide Hills tomorrow. I'm thinking picnic. I'm thinking home-made lemonade. I'm thinking baskets overflowing with fresh, ripe cherries. I'm thinking I'll bake a cherry pie. Photo from here

I'm thinking a picnic is a super fabulous idea! What cool/fun edibles you found. I especially love the edible spray paint and you know what? I am having a holiday get together, so I think I need to impress/freak everyone out!

I always have such a good time at your blog. You find the most wonderful stuff.

Thanks so much Tameri. And if you do use the edible spray paint, please take lots of pictures and post a blog about it because I would LOVE to see that!

I'm watching the Australian Open Golf as I type this. Lovely memories of Sydney every time they show a beautiful shot of the harbour. Tameri is right, you find the most wonderful stuff.

The Sophie Koh Supermarket Song has put the biggest smile on my face. I think I might place this tomorrow morning. I find a good bop is a wonderful start to the day!

Enjoy your weekend. Cherry Pie and home made lemonade - sounds like you are in for a good one

That edible spray paint is so cool! The possibilities are really endless.

Homemade cherry lemonade sounds perfect right now.

LOVE the edible spray paint AND the rainbow colored food - fantabulous!
Where do you find this stuff?!?! Sweet!
I love the video and you should know that I am famous for dancing in the grocery store. Hubby has enjoyed many a John Travolta poses mid aisle and I don't care who's watching when I bust a move. A girl's gotta shake when the music rocks her out!

LOL Natalie I'm loving the mental picture right now! You know how the uber-cool hairdressing salons have DJs in them? I predict that one day, supermarkets in rich neighbourhoods will have DJs too, and we'll all be able to rock out in the aisles (even if we can only afford to buy two apples and a bag of frozen peas).

WOW!!! I so enjoyed looking at all of your creations!!! Where can we buy the edible spray paint? Is it available in the U.S.? I am teaching a summer program using the culinary arts. I want the kids to learn there are other avenues as an artist and culinary is not just about cooking. In our past programs we have let the kids be food stylists, photographers, platers, kitchen managers, etc. This year I want to expand that list to include researchers, historians, writers and everything in between and beyond! I am so glad I found you!

Hi Donna, thanks for your lovely words, and your kids' program sounds amazing! I wish I could go! The edible spray paint is available here: http://www.the-deli-garage.com/shopware.php (there's an English version if you click in the top right). As far as I can tell, they only ship to Europe. Not sure if you know someone in Europe who can then send it on to you? I hope this helps and good luck with the summer program.
